Exterior Varnish Would It Be Better To Use Spar Varnish Or Watco Oil On Unpainted Birdhouses?

Would it be better to use spar varnish or Watco oil on unpainted birdhouses? - exterior varnish

We have some unfinished bird houses that I implemented before the court. Unfortunately, I do not know what stuff they are made, even though my friend says that it is cedar. I like the unfinished look, and I would like to use some of the many coatings and / colors / etc, we already have at home. We cut two ways: Watco exterior varnish or oil. What would be the best and why? We live in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the winters are brutal and the summers are hot and humid.

The oil can have a lasting smell that the birds away can prevent. There is a watertight seal to the outside, with no lasting odor and fast drying.
